If your company uses Salesforce for its enhanced CRM capabilities, company/account and contact information can be sent both from fp. to Salesforce, and from Salesforce to fp. Opportunities can be sent only from Salesforce to fp. Opportunities will be added in as fp. Estimates but will have no phases and services selected.
This document outlines the configuration process required to sync Function Point with Salesforce.
Your Salesforce package will need to include the Integration via Web Services API
In order to sync Companies / Accounts you will need to select a default industry type in List Maintenance. This is a required field in Function Point to add a company. To set a default go to Admin>System Set Up>List Maintenance. Select Industry Type from the Table Name drop down list and mark one of the types as default and hit submit.
Setting Defaults in Function Point's List Maintenance
In order to import Opportunities you will need to select a default Brief Type. This is a required field in Function Point in order to open an Estimate. To set a default go to ADMIN > System Set Up > List Maintenance. Select Estimate and Job Type from the Select a List menu, mark one of the types as Default, and hit Save.
NOTE: Both the Industry and Estimate and Job Type can be edited following the sync
The last step is to select Cost Rate as default. To do this go to ADMIN > Rate And Staff Management > Rate Categories. Once here select the "Flag as Cost Rate for Reports" tick box. Sync your Salesforce in Function Point
The first step is to navigate to the ADMIN menu of fp, then choose Feature Management and select Salesforce Integration.
Salesforce Log in Information
Once in the Salesforce Sync view you will need to enter your Salesforce login information. This will consist of your standard Salesforce username and your Salesforce password with security token from Salesforce.
(A security token can be obtained in your salesforce account. To reset your security token, click Your Name | Setup | Personal Setup | My Personal Information | Reset Security Token, and click the Reset Security Token button. The new security token is sent via email to the email address on your Salesforce user record.)
Sync Companies / Accounts
Select the Operation and Display option that you prefer. Next, select a Salesforce Account Type or leave it blank to pull all types. The Company Name field will help you narrow your search. For example, if you wanted to only add "Function Point" you can type it in and it will only return companies with the name "Function Point" in the name. Please review the reference box for further information on the selection options.
Select Preview and it will bring up a list of companies. Please select the companies you wish to sync and hit submit.
Select the Operation, Display and Salesforce account types preferences and hit preview to bring up a list of contacts. Select the contacts you wish to sync and hit submit.
NOTE: A Salesforce contact needs to be associated with a Salesforce company that has already been synced in order for it to come over to Function Point
Select a stage or leave it blank to bring up all stages.
NOTE: Only Opportunties belonging to companies/accounts that have been synced will show up in this list
The Modified Date After calendar option will allow you to bring over opportunities that have been modified after the given date. Please enter a date and hit Preview.
This will bring up a list of opportunities. Select the opportunities you wish to sync and hit submit.

Remember that Opportunities can be sent only from Salesforce to fp.
The information that was added in the Salesforce Opportunity will be added to the Description field in the Estimate Details page. No Service Groups or Services will be selected.
