The Function Point Client Portal is a useful tool through agencies and their clients can communication. Clients can use the Portal to submit work requests, keep track of active work, and communicate with the agency they are working with. This article provides an overview for clients of the Portal's functionality and how to use it.
How to Login
Open your web browser and navigate to www.functionpoint.com. Click the Login button in the top right corner.
Enter the login credentials you were provided by the agency you are working with.
View Active Work
Upon logging in, you will land on the Active Work tab. Depending upon the level of access (permissions) that the agency has assigned to you, your view of the Portal might not match the screenshots exactly.
From the Active Work tab, you will see any active work being done for you by the agency. Click any Job name to see additional information - if available.
Within a Job, you may be able to see associated Job links, Notes, files and reports. Again, what you will be able to view will depend on the level of accessthe agency has granted you. From this page, you can add Notes and files by clicking the corresponding + Add button. There is no limit to the number of files and Notes you add, only an individual file size limit of 50Mb.
Make Work Requests
From the Requests tab, you'll be able to request new work. Fields marked with an asterisk will need to be filled out.
- If the agency you are working with has multiple office, pick the office you'd like to request work from
- Enter in the member of your organization who will be the primary contact for this work.
- Give your request a specific name to identify it and provide high-level information about what it is for.
- Click the magnifying glass button to choose the type of work you are requesting
- This field may have auto-populated when you chose the Job type. If not, enter then name of the individual within the agency who you'd like to oversee the work.
- Choose the date when the work needs to be complete by.
- Set a budget, if you have one already.
- Provide a brief overview of the work you are requesting, if you would like to. Keep in mind, the next step will give you more opportunities to provide detailed information about the work you are requesting.
Click Save & Next when ready. Click Save As Draft if you want to come back to complete this request later.
You will then see up to 2 pages of questions. Any required questions will be marked with an asterisk. Click Save & Next to move to the remaining page, or click Save As Draft to come back to this request later.
You'll be brought to the Summary tab, where you can review your answers, and click Submit Request when ready.
Your request and its status will now be visible under the View Requests/Estimates tab, along with any other work you've requested.
Once the agency has created an Estimate, you'll be able to see it by clicking the View button. You can ask the agency you are working with to set up in-Portal or email alerts when an Estimate is ready to view.
Your Estimate will look something like the one above.
You'll have the option to approve or decline the Estimate and add a note for additional information.
Once you've approved the Estimate, you'll see its status change immediately.
From the Files tab, you will be able to see files that the agency has uploaded, organized by the Job they are associated with. You can also add your own files that will be viewable by the agency by clicking the + Add button. There is no limit to the number of files and Notes you can add, only an individual file size limit of 50Mb.
The Discussions Tab houses communication between you and the agency that is not specific to any Job.
Use the + Add button on the Discussions tab to start a conversation with the agency. You can also comment on existing posts and add files. The benefit of this versus an email, is that the your conversations will be recorded here for easy access.
From the Admin tab, you can update or edit your own contact information. This will update the agency's records for you in their FP system.
